Last year, the Government confirmed that Batemoor, Jordanthorpe and Lowedges, and Parson Cross and Fox Hill would each receive £20 million over the next decade. The funding is intended to support community led projects that strengthen neighbourhoods, reflect local priorities, and give residents a real say in shaping the future of their area.
A key first step in setting up the programme is now under way, with applications open for an Independent Chair to support the creation of new Neighbourhood Boards in each area. These Boards will oversee how funding is used and ensure decisions are based on what local people say will make the most difference.
Community voices at the heart of the programme
The Pride in Place programme is designed to be led by communities from the very start. Engagement activity will be delivered in partnership with – and in many cases led by – local community organisations, alongside residents, voluntary groups and other local partners.
People who live or work in the areas will be invited to share their experiences, ideas and priorities to help shape the Boards’ initial plans and guide future investment.
How the programme will work
Each area will receive £1.4 million in 2027 to begin developing projects identified by the Neighbourhood Boards. Funding will then rise to £2 million per year through to 2036.
Sheffield City Council will act as the accountable body during the early stages of the programme, while decision making will sit with the resident led Neighbourhood Boards, chaired independently and made up of local people, businesses and community organisations.
